About

Welcome to the Chinese Learning Toolkit "ToneZi", which is a collection of tools designed to help learners of Chinese improve their skills.
This project was started by Reed Jorgensen and Mark Pindur under Dr. Hongchen Wu at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

The project originally started as a survey of 提笔忘字,or "Character Amnesia" in english, where we presented our findings at the UN Chinese Language Learning Day in Spring 2024.
Since then, the project has blossomed beyond a streamlit website into a comprehensive chinese learning app, targeting gaps that current computer assisted language learning programs have.

We would like to give special thank you to the Atlanta Global Studies Center for funding the research for this project and its development.
We would also like to thank the Phil McKnight endowment for providing resources that enable our website to run effectively, as well as the Georgia Tech School of Modern Languages for encouraging further development in the acquisition of foreign languages.
